Also in August John Wesley came to Truro, in 1755. And Richard Lander began his voyage to explore...

This is a proverb (an old saying). It is summer, certainly, and the weather is hot. However, I'd prefer not to think about the winter and cold weather. Ma pub hasen ow tegy gool po parashût. Ma bahow münys war nebes frûtys ha ma'n re-ma ow cacha war vlew bestes. Degys e kerdh en jei gen an bestes.    Plants have to reproduce. Sometimes their life is not very long. Mushrooms have many spores. I made a spore print with my grandson. Spores are very light and they float in the air. Bigger plants have fruits and seeds. Some of them are blown long distances by winds. Every seed bears a sail or parachute. There are tiny hooks on some fruits and these catch on animal hair. They are carried away by the animals.

I'm a bit cross. Somebody with a car or something bigger has damaged our wall. It's scratched. There is white dust on the weeds. Luckily they didn't knock it down. There are some fruits blown down by the wind. They are popular with all sorts of little creatures. Bruised apples are food for insects. Better a horse fly biting a rotten apple than biting me. Apples and plums are pecked by birds while they are still...

2025 Dedh Dew Cans ha Seytek De Meurth, pempes mis Est Tuesday, 5th August Da ew genam whynas! Anjei ell bos pur deg (saw terweythyow anjei ell bos dregydnüs).  An 'ragwort' melyn, emesk an montbretia, ew drog. Devedhys òbma ew ev dhort Resohen gen an vorr gledher. Na res mergh y dhebry. (Ma kei bes nag eus mergh veth dhebm.) Hokles ew melyn, ewedh, saw henn ew didhrog. Ma mellyon gwydn ha mellyon rüdh rag an gwenen, bes an tycky-Duw ma a gar pedry pronter. I like weeds! They can be very beautiful (but sometimes they can be harmful). The yellow ragwort, among the montbretia, is bad. It came here from Oxford with the railway. Horses must not eat it. (I have a dog but no horses.) Hawkweed is yellow, too, but that is harmless. There's white clover and red clover for the bees, but this butterfly loves a knapweed.

2025 Dedh Dew Cans ha Whetek De Lün, pajwora mis Est Monday, 4th August Ma sinys bestes münys e'n lowarth. Terweythyow thew an olow enwejek. Pandr'ew an grügen lobm ma? Na ellama gweles gwiajow kenis en kewer segh, saw disqwedhys en jei gen glebor, emesk an reden bian ha delkyow sevy war ladn.  There are signs of mini-beasts in the garden. Sometimes the traces are distinctive. What is this bare mound? There is no grass or bluebells on it. Is it a molehill? No. It's too big. Can you see the little holes? It's an ants nest, full of black ants. Birds like ants. Sometimes I see a woodpecker in the garden. I can't see cobwebs in dry weather, but they are displayed by moisture, among the little ferns and wild strawberry leaves on a bank.

There are lots of berries and other fruit in the trees and bushes - red haws on whitethorn (hawthorn), gold and purple plums. We have already eaten the delicious golden plums. The Kea plums need more time to ripen. They're still a bit hard. The cornfield in the distance is golden. There is fog or low clouds on the hills near the coast.

The little boy wants to watch some nonsense on YouTube. He likes funny animals. Perhaps tomorrow we could do art - pictures of animals.

We are between solstice (Midsummer) and autumn equinox. Two summer months (June and July) have gone already. There is corn in fields and fruit in the trees. The branches are bending with the weight of apples. The harvest time is beginning. In summer remember winter. In Ireland the day is called "Lughnasadh". It's a festival.
