There are signs of mini-beasts in the garden. Sometimes the traces are distinctive. What is this bare mound? There is no grass or bluebells on it. Is it a molehill? No. It's too big. Can you see the little holes? It's an ants nest, full of black ants. Birds like ants. Sometimes I see a woodpecker in the garden. I can't see cobwebs in dry weather, but they are displayed by moisture, among the little ferns and wild strawberry leaves on a bank.
