What happened in August in years gone by? I read a book published about a hundred years ago. The book gives an account of even older events. Today, in 1644, an army loyal to the crown went from Truro to Lostwithiel to join King Charles there. Also in August John Wesley came to Truro, in 1755. And Richard Lander began his voyage to explore Africa, in 1825 (two centuries ago). Now there is a school called Richard Lander in Truro (my grandchildren's school).
