Saturday, 10th March. I’m tired! I went to St Ives – a long day and a lot of walking. I heard about an artist called Wilhelmina Barns-Graham and about other women artists in Cornwall in the Tate Gallery. Many of them painted in St Just and Penwith. Very interesting.

I am not a fine poetess and my verses are not refined poetry. I would prefer to write songs, but I don't know how to compose the music. I am not a composer. It's hard to get rhymes for some words. Can I remember rhymes? I can't remember exactly. But "amusing" is a rhyme for "exactly" (more or less). "Moth" is another rhyme, but how can I use it? The picture is a peppered moth. Ma'n  cân an bobel ow cana a gerenja. There is a timeless folksong, "The Cuckoo". The cuckoo is a pretty bird, she singeth as she flies. She should come in April, but I have heard no song this year.
