Is this a lake? There’s a reflection of trees with autumnal leaves. It’s not a lake; it’s a puddle in the lane.The weather was very wet last night. Lots of rain, very heavy, very noisy. The water didn’t drain away. But in the wood there is water running. The little stream was dry throughout the summer and now it is full of water - several inches!

Den po maw gwiskys en lavrek o moy saw avel benyn pow mos gwiskys en pilen. Today I watched Lynn Mayers talking about bal-maidens. It was a very interesting lecture, from Kresen Kernow (Cornwall Centre). There were many bal-maidens in my parish (in a red area of the map). There is still the remains of a mine nearby. The work could be dangerous. Sometimes a girl's clothes were caught in machinery. Long skirts were not safe. A man or boy dressed in a pair of trousers was safer than a woman or girl dressed in a skirt.
