We see all sorts of transportation in Cornwall - on roads, rails and water. Sometimes there is conflict between them! This bridge in Truro was built before the age of the tall bus. This bus should have been in the middle of the road. There was an accident - the bridge and the bus are damaged. Twelve miles away on the water in Falmouth there is a huge vessel. The owner of the vessel is very rich - the bus is for poorer people.

Den po maw gwiskys en lavrek o moy saw avel benyn pow mos gwiskys en pilen. Today I watched Lynn Mayers talking about bal-maidens. It was a very interesting lecture, from Kresen Kernow (Cornwall Centre). There were many bal-maidens in my parish (in a red area of the map). There is still the remains of a mine nearby. The work could be dangerous. Sometimes a girl's clothes were caught in machinery. Long skirts were not safe. A man or boy dressed in a pair of trousers was safer than a woman or girl dressed in a skirt.
