The day was quiet. There were little birds singing in the hedges. Sometimes a small aeroplane flew above our little valley. All at once, there was sound of a crowd of big birds, noisy black birds, perhaps rooks. The sky was full. They were coming from the fields, it seemed. They came suddenly, and they were soon gone.
