Nicholas Boson wrote the story John of a Ram's House in the seventeenth century. John had to look for work to do. "What work can you do?" a farmer asked. John could do "every sort of work". What work was there on a farm in the seventeenth century. These images were painted in the seventeenth century by an artist from Belgium. It is not Cornwall, but the work everywhere was similar. The men were cutting hay in July. We can see big hay ricks in a hay field. Someone is sleeping in the hay. Perhaps he is tired! In August, they had to cut the corn, perhaps barley to make beer.
