Today, I climbed uphill in my garden to look at the old plum tree. From the hedge I can see Budnick Hill. Are there any plums? Are there or aren't there? There are unripe acorns. The squirrels will be happy; there are no hazelnuts left. The birds will be contented; there will be enough haws and rosehips for the winter. Will I be pleased? I like plums; for eating or boiling or for making plum gin. There are a few good sloes but, unfortunately, most of the plums are covered in white mould. Where's the gin?
