Always in Redruth I see the dogs. They are the Tinners' Hounds or The Hounds of Geevor, made by David Kemp. "The Goats' Mine" was closed and there were lots of redundant rubber boots. Each dog was formed with seven boots, then cast in bronze. Bronze is an alloy of tin and copper. That is very appropriate to mark the passing of a large and important part of Cornwall's history. Today every hound is also wearing poppies in remembrance of miners killed in war.
