I didn't see any fireworks last night. I couldn't go out. But I heard a lot of little explosions in the garden of my neighbour with children (before bedtime!). I heard some more of them later at some distance, after pub closing time. Today the weather is quiet. There is neither wind nor rain. Sometimes a single-engined aeroplane or a rescue helicopter crosses overhead. From time to time the big group of rooks in the tall trees is noisy, and then the birds fly away. Behind the hedge I can hear a neighbour in his new shed. He has a hammer and a drill. When will he finish?
